Goldwork beaded bee or dragonfly brooch

Service Description
Learn how to make your own hand-embroidered bee or dragonfly brooch, using goldwork embroidery and beading techniques. You will begin with a bee or dragonfly onto which the felt padding has been applied to the body for you and you will work your embroidery over the top of this to create a raised effect. You will learn how to use goldwork embroidery techniques to embroider your brooch. You will use two different types of specialist wire to create two styles of outlines. You will also use the more flexible wire to decorate the dragonfly body, along with glass beads and crystals. To finish, you will be shown how to make your dragonfly embroidery into a neatly finished brooch. You will receive a materials kit containing all the materials you need to complete your brooch. This includes: - A section of silver and gold imitation goldwork wires - Navy wool felt fabric with the design transferred and padding applied - Green and blue glass seed beads - Two blue glass crystals - A gold-plated brooch pin - White, yellow and dark blue cotton sewing threads - Beeswax - Two needles You will also be provided with equipment such as an embroidery hoop and scissors, which will be available for purchase if you desire. You do not need any prior embroidery experience to attend this workshop, but it might be an advantage. The techniques are fairly time-consuming & we do not expect you to finish your brooch in the morning, but you will have all the techniques to finish it at home. If you’d like more time with Hannah then why not book the full day session which includes lunch and a further couple of hours to enjoy working on your piece with help on hand. About your tutor Hannah Mansfield is an award-winning freelance hand embroiderer based near Bristol. She specialises in the techniques of goldwork and tambour beading. Hannah works to commission and runs her own online shop. She is also an embroidery tutor, teaching embroidery workshops around the UK and online. (She is also the author of a beautiful new book on the art of Tambour Beading, and is a tutor at Highgrove on the Chanel & King’s Foundation Métiers d’art Fellowship teaching hand embroidery and beading skills. Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATION If you cancel the booking, we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges as follows: Ten (10) days or more before the date of the Workshop, Larkswold will work with you to move the booking to an alternative date or workshop (subject to any additional charges that may apply resulting from the alternative date or workshop chosen). Suppose an alternative date or workshop cannot be agreed upon at the time of cancellation. In that case, Larkswold will issue you with a credit to the value of the Workshop (“Workshop Credit”), which you can use towards the cost of an alternative workshop of your choice (subject to availability) and which shall be valid for up to 12 months from the date of issue. If you fail to rebook an alternative workshop within this period, all rights are forfeited; To cancel, you just need to let us know.
