Embroider a stunning sparkly bee brooch with Hannah Mansfield


Service Description

Learn how to make your own hand embroidered bee brooch, using goldwork embroidery and beading techniques. Goldwork embroidery is a traditional hand embroidery technique which uses specialist wires, usually these are applied over felt padding to create raised embroidery. You will be provided with a bee which has been padded and outlined, to which you will add beads and goldwork wires. Hannah will show you how to apply the beads and goldwork wires in a variety of ways so that you can make your bee unique to you. Once the bee is embroidered, Hannah will demonstrate how to make your bee into a neatly finished brooch. You do not need any prior embroidery experience to attend this workshop. Everything you'll need is provided: Silver lined crystal beads Silver lined gold beads Gold smooth and rough purl Silver smooth and check purl Beeswax Bead needle White, yellow and dark blue sewing thread Gold plated brooch pin Navy wool felt fabric Hannah Mansfield is an award winning freelance hand embroiderer based near Bristol. She specialises in the techniques of goldwork and tambour beading. Hannah works to commission and runs her own online shop. She is also an embroidery tutor, teaching embroidery workshops around the UK and online. (She is also being very modest here as she is also the author of a beautiful new book on the art of Tambour Beading, and is a tutor at Highgrove on the Chanel & King’s Foundation Métiers d’art Fellowship teaching hand embroidery and beading skills. Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION If you cancel the booking, we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges as follows: Ten (10) days or more before the date of the Workshop, Larkswold will work with you to move the booking to an alternative date or workshop (subject to any additional charges that may apply resulting from the alternative date or workshop chosen). Suppose an alternative date or workshop cannot be agreed upon at the time of cancellation. In that case, Larkswold will issue you with a credit to the value of the Workshop (“Workshop Credit”), which you can use towards the cost of an alternative workshop of your choice (subject to availability) and which shall be valid for up to 12 months from the date of issue. If you fail to rebook an alternative workshop within this period, all rights are forfeited; To cancel, you just need to let us know.
