Let’s face it, Valentine’s Day can feel a bit like a minefield. You’ve got the pressure of trying to be original, the looming spectre of overpriced flowers, and the endless debates over whether you should splurge on a fancy meal or settle for takeout and Netflix.
But this year, why not take a more... creative approach? Candle making with us. It isn’t just a chance to create a lovely, personalised gift for your other half – it’s a fun, romantic experience - and of course, it's good to know we do a great workshop to make your wedding rings and throw a pretty mean hen do...
Romance Without the Rose-Tinted Glasses
When you think of romance, you probably picture candlelight dinners, serenades, or something equally straight out of a rom-com. But let’s be honest, who actually enjoys cooking a three-course meal under pressure, or trying to decipher a love poem? Candles, however, are a different story. They're the perfect metaphor for romance: soft, glowing, and designed to set the mood... unless you overdo it and end up with the room smelling like an Ikea showroom.
At our workshop you’re invited to create a candle from scratch, choosing your own scent and style. You’ll be guided through the process by Emma or myself who ensure you don’t accidentally end up with a candle that smells like toilet cleaner (although if that’s your thing, we are not here to judge). The result? A beautifully crafted candle that says, “I thought about this... but not too hard,” which, frankly, is probably all your partner really wants.
The Ultimate Test of Teamwork (Without the Pressure)
Let’s face it, making candles isn’t just about making a gift – it’s about spending time together, figuring out which scent pairs best with your partner’s personality (if you're brave enough), and working together to produce something that, let’s be honest, will probably sit in your living room for the next five years. But that’s the charm of it, isn’t it? You’re creating something together that’s, well, you. Plus, it’s a wonderful way to see how well you work under pressure. Do they panic when it’s time to choose the fragrance, or are they happily pouring wax like a pro? Either way, you’re in it together.
And if you mess up? Well, you’re at Larkswold. There are no wrong answers here. (Unless you decide to make the candle smell like “eau de wet dog” – that might be a bit much.)
Conclusion: Candle Making – The Perfect Blend of Romance and Wit
So, if you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day gift that doesn’t require you to sign up for an overpriced dinner reservation or endure a night of awkwardly staring at each other over fondue, candle making at Larkswold is your answer. It’s romantic, it’s thoughtful, and it’s a great chance to show your partner that you’re not just about giving them another generic gift. Plus, when all else fails, at least you’ll have a candle to light in a power cut – now that’s true love.
What is left to say? Well probably that we have just saved your bacon - because if you are trying to sort a gift at this late stage on Valentines day you are pretty desperate! No problem - just follow the link and grab yourself a gift experieince to hand over to your loved one. Or if you have a relationship like most couples - you are in fact handing over the gift that you bought for youself so you get something you actually want.
